Summary:Clint Eastwood (Hereafter, Invictus) directs‘J.Edgar’,a biopic about controversial FBI director J.Edgar Hoover starring Leonardo DiCaprio (Inception).Hoover was appointed director of the Bureau of Investigation in 1924 and was named head of the FBI when it was founded 11 years later.Armie Hammer (The Social Network) will play Clyde Toulson Assistant Director of the FBI,who ultimately becomes Hoover’s closest companion.Naomi Watts (Fair Game) will portray Helen Gandy,the longtime personal secretary to Hoover.Ken Howard (HBO’s Grey Gardens) will portray Harlan F.Stone,who served as U.S.Attorney General in 1924-25 before being appointed to the U.S.Supreme Court.Josh Lucas (The Lincoln Lawyer) will portray aviator Charles Lindbergh.Damon Herriman (FX’s Justified) is on board to play Bruno Hauptmann,the German immigrant accused of kidnapping Lindbergh’s 20-month baby in 1932.Ed Westwick (CW’s Gossip Girl) will portray a character called Agent Smith who is asked by Hoover to write his biography.
